As the subject has been a contentious issue in the past 18 months, Lance Armstrong on Saturday posted a video of himself going to speak with Caitlyn Jenner about transgender participation in sports.
Late Saturday night, Armstrong sent a teaser to his Twitter account in which he expressed the desire to have a “smarter conversation” regarding the participation of transgender people in sports.

In the video, he said, “I think, you know, people tend to… they’re really afraid to be fired, shamed, or cancelled with sensitive conversations and topics like this.” It turns out that I’m not really scared of that. It’s a crucial conversation, in my opinion. The best way to have these dialogues, get to a better conclusion, or even just have a smarter conversation, in my opinion, is to just go in unafraid, and on this particular issue, I’m sort of fearless.
The complete chat, according to Armstrong, will be made available on Monday as part of a special series of “The Forward.”
“Have we really reached a point in history where vigorous debate is not just discouraged but also feared? Where being fired, embarrassed, or cancelled is the top concern for people? I feel I’m ideally positioned to have these conversations since I’m all too familiar with this phenomena, he tweeted.
“I’m not sure if there are other topics that are as contentious and divisive as the discussion of trans athletes in sport.
