MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is disliked by many baseball fans for a variety of reasons.
The majority of people dislike the new rules, which have actually been quite beneficial. Others did not like how he handled the lockout in 2021 and 2022, and many people dislike his handling of the Houston Astros sign-stealing issue.
Manfred himself has regrets about the Houston scenario, so it’s not just the fans who don’t like it.

Again, Manfred stated that he hoped he could retract his statement that the World Series trophy was merely a “piece of metal.” When explaining why the Astros were not stripped of the championship, he said that.
Houston was not stripped of its championship and was granted complete amnesty in exchange for disclosing the truth about the sign-stealing controversy. Manfred regrets both of those things, though.
“I’m not sure that I would have approached it with giving players immunity,” he said to Time. “Once we granted immunity to participants, it was impossible to decide how they would be punished. Without that immunity grant, I might have started the investigation and seen where it led. I won’t penalise anyone first, which may not have been the wisest move.

The Astros won the World Series for the first time ever in 2017. However, it was discovered two years later that they used a trash-can banging device to communicate signals to batters in real-time for the entirety of that season as well as for a portion of the 2018 season.
Although it has never been confirmed, there have been rumours that they cheated in 2019—particularly with buzzers, such as on Jose Altuve’s game-winning walk-off home run against the New York Yankees.
Major League Baseball suspended Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow, manager AJ Hinch, and bench coach Alex Cora. Without even managing a game, Carlos Beltran, a former player for that franchise, was fired as manager of the Mets.

Cora and the Boston Red Sox parted ways when the controversy became public, but he was brought back for the 2021 campaign.
Both in 2019 and 2021, the Astros lost the World Series in seven games, but their triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies last season sent them back to the summit.
