According to a rumour from Deadline, actor and comedian Will Ferrell will take on the starring role in a future movie on NFL legend John Madden.
David O. Russell, a five-time Oscar nominee who also directed the critically praised movie “Silver Linings Playbook” among other films, will helm the picture “Madden.”
The movie is anticipated to discuss Madden’s tenure as Raiders head coach, his work as a television broadcaster, and how he came to be the driving force behind one of the most well-known video game franchises ever.
According to a previous story from Deadline, this project is separate from a limited series on Madden’s life that has Tom Brady serving as executive producer.
When “Madden” will start production is still a mystery. The movie hasn’t had an official release date declared.
One of the “Madden” producers is named as Steve Tisch, a co-owner of the New York Giants. According to Deadline, it is widely anticipated that the NFL “will embrace the feature film on one of the most beloved figures in the sport.”
