In a statement released on Tuesday, USA Nordic Sport and U.S. Ski & Snowboard confirmed that Patrick Gasienica, who represented the United States in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, passed away on Monday. He was 24.
His reason of death wasn’t known right away.
“USA Nordic Sport and U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and the ski jumping community,” the two organisations’ joint statement said.
Gasienica started his ski jumping career at the Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove, Illinois, where he made his Olympic debut in Beijing.
The FIS Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 and 2017, as well as the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019, are just a few of the occasions that he has competed for the United States.

He finished 49th on the regular hill and 53rd on the giant hill in his lone Olympic competition. He also finished 10th in the team competition.

Gasienica is survived by his parents, Jolanta and Wojciech, as well as his two sisters, Megan and Sabina, according to an obituary.
